Born in Lexington, Georgia, Isaiah Addison Paschal (1808-1868) was admitted to the bar in 1830. Three years later he moved to Louisiana, where he served on a circuit court and as a legislator. Paschal moved to San Antonio in 1845, where he continued to practice law until being elected to the Texas legislature in 1857. Born in Bavaria (Germany) in 1833, Martin Muench immigrated to Texas in 1853. The following year he arrived in San Antonio, where he married Prussian Margareta Gimbel (1836-1924) in 1858 March. The couple had eight children: Ferdinand E. (1859-1909), Martin J. (born circa 1860), Charles H. (1865-1915), Joseph E. (born circa 1866), Louis V. (1867-1924), Anna K.
